Walked through colonial williamsburg, did not pay for a pass and so glad because it's free to walk around and much larger than I expected there is alot to see and several blocks to walk around. The only reason for a pass is if you want to walk into some of the buildings like governor palace or the capitol building other than that there weren't many buildings open. Not worth the hefty fee for a pass. But overall enjoyed the step back in time...plan to spend a good portion of your day here. Also there is a free bus you can take which stops at several locations around the area...masks required on bus.

Because Colonial Williamsburg is a living-history museum it is mostly outdoors. The indoors portions have been modified to account for the pandemic. For us it was a really nice opportunity to join the world again. We visited for the 4th of July weekend as the restrictions eased and the historic area lurched back into operation. On Friday the 2nd we had dinner at the King's Arms Tavern; for our waiter it was his first night back after a year and a half layoff. For the buildings that would be too crowded for visitors to be in together the number of people was controlled or the re-enactor was moved to an outdoor venue. The trades people are very informed and fascinating. Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry are fantastic to hear them at the special sessions. The buses ran smoothly. It is worth going now, a great opportunity to vacation again especially since it is basically an outdoor museum.
