Not enough places open for full admission price to be charged. No dining, many drink vending machines were sold out, no costumed people on the streets. Could not even take pictures with he kids in the stocks. The large gift shop at the visitor center is closed.

So disappointed. Last trip there was about 30 years ago. So we decided to go for free the first day and just do a quick walk through. Their was only a handful of people there. Hardly any buildings were open. The map was ridiculous that we were given. No one in costume walking the streets. Like we remember. Only one person sitting outside a building and two young girls who were visitors like us who just dressed up. No carriages, horses, cannonballs. The bakery was closed. Always was free. Was looking to getting a homemade molasses cookie. So glad we did not pay to get in. We were told that they could not get people to go back to work like everywhere else in this country. We did go to Jamestown. It was wonderful. People were in costume, reenacting and telling their stories. There has to be something else going on at C. Williamsburg. So sad!!! Sam

This was our ninth trip to Williamsburg, and each time we took a grandchild. The first was 11 years ago. The difference in the experience was stunning. We paid full price to stay in a colonial house, but very little was available or open in the town. The enactors did not act very "Colonial British." We checked before coming and were told that everything was open. OK, many things were PARTIALLY open, like the Governor's Palace, the Capitol, the Wythe House. Many were not open at all, like the Coffee House, the old Inn next to Tarpley's, Shields Tavern, the Brick Yard, Christiana Campbells. Very, very hard to get reservations at King's Arms, and then no entertainment. Also, there should be a children's room for families with tired, loud little ones.We were in a little trouble because we had talked so much about all the things our 11 year old would see. I know the state has restricted some things b because of Covid, but Colonial Williamsburg should be honest about this. We were so disappointed!!
