We took the self guided tour of the colonial area. Some buildings were not open due to the corona virus and there were few people around. We did view the courthouse and some other exhibits. Our history is so very important and it is always good to have a refresher on our country. Today is another historic day.... President Biden!

We had heard that several of the Colonial Williamsburg exhibits were closed presumably because social distancing is difficult in some places, but it still made for a nice day. Masks and social distancing were enforced around the area. Only smaller groups were allowed in buildings at a time, but with fewer crowds in October, there were hardly any lines. A one-day ticket, which is discounted right now, was plenty to see everything that was open.

This was the highlight of my trip! There is free parking at the visitors center and the cost of admission is reduced due to Covid. If you are military you get a little star on your pass that entitles you to 10% discounts at all shops in the historical area and the gift shop. Not all of the buildings are open; however, enough are that it is worth going now since the amount of visitors is less than normal. There is a limited number of people per building (i.e. 10 ever 10 minutes at the Governor's Palace) but it goes pretty quickly. The employees in the historic area are all wearing period clothing and provide a backstory of what they do in the town and are able to answer any questions. It was also neat to see the demonstrations: musket firing, shoe making, blacksmith, etc. This is a must do for any history buff and fun for the whole family.
