Do your research before going so you know what kind of tickets, time to spend, what to see 1. They offer a very nice military discount 2. You only need tickets to get inside and hear the history of you only have a short time you can walk around for free. 3. This place is large.. We walked for 4 hours and over 10,000 steps. Take good walking shoes 4. Plan meals ahead of time if you are there when busy.. many stressed people when waiting 45 min to 1 hour for seating. 5. There were dogs everywhere! It was fun to see them out among the guests 6. Enjoy!! It is worth your time! We learned so much about our history!!

Our visit to Colonial Williamsburg was everything we expected. We got to experience history by seeing how it was lived out. Just being in the town gave us a feeling of how life was lived three hundred years ago. The interpreters were more than willing to answer questions and make sure the subject matter was understood. Seeing how buildings were constructed in Colonial times and how trades were conducted made our trip worthwhile. We were able to explore everything at our own pace. Anyone with even a minor interest in history should visit this location. It will be something you will not soon forget.

The carriage ride was nice except for the driver . The 12 days of Christmas show in the art museum was outstanding and very entertaining . But I paid for a program at the palace "Traditions of Christmas" and I was not impressed with the performance or staff . First the program started at 7:00 pm and the staff made us stand outside (even people with obvious handicap till 15 min before the show started . It was getting cold in line . Then when the program was over I needed to catch the bus to the lodge . It was very dark, walking on the street and the staff was not clear in the direction of the bus stop. I feel that when a program that late is over there should be security nearby or more lights . I did not find the bus stop until another couple help me find the area where my bus was to stop. I just think security at night is lacking . Most of the staff at Williamsburg were very helpful but my driver on the carriage ride was very rude and I felt little arrogant . The INN was beautiful with all the Christmas lights but the cider and coffee pots were empty. There seem to be a shortage of staff working over the holidays .
