Weight Restrictions: Due to FAA regulations, all passengers must be weighed at check-in. For each passenger weighing 240 pounds or more, or combined weights of 420 lbs per couple, an additional seat must be purchased at time of booking. This is for the safety and comfort of all passengers. It is important to provide accurate body weight at checkout.
It is recommend that all passengers wear dark clothing to help have less reflection in the windows when flying and therefore you can get better photos during your tour
All passenger weights MUST be advised at time of booking. Under representation of body weight may result in cancellation at check-in with no refund.
Not wheelchair accessible. There is no wheelchair lift to accommodate wheelchair passengers nor can the staff personally/physically assist people into the helicopter
Flight routes & sights may vary due to weather.
Infants under 24 months must sit on an adult lap. PLEASE CONTACT AIR MAUI IF BRINGING AN INFANT. Over 24 months must occupy their own paid seat. We follow the same FAA regulations as the airlines.

What To Expect

Air Maui Helicopter Tours

Make your way to Kahului Heliport and hop aboard a luxury, air-conditioned helicopter, which holds six passengers in forward-facing leather seats. Once you’re airborne, sit back and listen to stereo music and descriptive narration from the professional pilot, who also serves as your tour guide.

Haleakala Crater

Throughout the 1-hour flight, enjoy unobstructed views while you soar above Maui’s extreme landscapes, including the dense Hana Rainforest of East Maui. Look down on waterfalls and the jaw-dropping Haleakala Crater, a dormant volcano with a summit reaching more than 10,000 feet (3,050 meters) above sea level in Haleakala National Park.

After these sights, your flight continues to the West Maui Mountains, aka West Maui Volcano or Maui Komohana to native Hawaiians, best seen from the air. Snap photos of the diverse landscape including rugged lava flows, rainforest and deep valleys filled with cascading waterfalls such as the ‘Wall of Tears,’ a cliff draped with dozens of falls.

I have been on a lot of helicopter tours, and this one ranks right up there with the best. Their office staff is super communicative and friendly. We had some bad weather during our vacation in Maui, so we had to re-schedule a few of our activities. Re-scheduling with Maui Air was the easiest of the bunch. They are on it! And our pilot, Captain Kirk, was both tremendously competent as a pilot, and hilarious fun as a guide. My nephew and I both really enjoyed this experience. I can heartily recommend Air Maui; especially the 60 minute whole island tour. Do it if you can!!!

We wanted to take a helicopter tour and the Four Seasons recommended and booked one with Blue Hawaiian. I just happened to look on trip advisor and saw where this one was higher recommended and even quite a bit less expensive. I am very glad I went with my gut over the concierge recommendation (they must get a kick back). I can not imagine a better experience than the one we had with Air Maui. Very quick and efficient check in (yes, you better pay your parking or you will get a ticket. We paid ours but saw several cars with tickets when leaving). It is only $2 or so. Everyone was super friendly and while you would expect it, I found their detail to safety to be over the top. (You wonder why they don't let bags, etc on the helicopter, but sadly the recent helicopter crash in New York points to exactly why they have these processes in place) Tour itself was unbelievable, I have been to many beautiful places, but the range of topography and views in really unmatched. I would say the west side mountains might have been my favorite, but very close to all of the waterfall views. After the flight they were super nice, we paid the $50 for the photo and video (very nice and not that it matters to me but I think the video is spliced with pictures of the passengers with stock video. There was a ship in the harbor we passed over that we didn't see in the video), they gave us a couple of free posters and good conversation and we were off to Mama's fish house. I would highly recommend this company for a professional tour, keeping in mind they can't control the weather, it does tend to rain a bit, particularly on the east side toward Hana, or at least it did with us.

I HIGHLY recommend this company. (But first things first, they ask you when booking over the phone and on their website to WEAR DARK CLOTHING, so there’s little reflection off the glass windows, which could obstruct someone’s view and end up in pictures. So please follow instructions and wear black or navy!! )The nicest staff you will ever meet, the most train and expert pilots, the best experience! We flew with Captain Richie, and he made our flight so wonderful. We payed extra to guarantee the front seats and worked really hard to lose weight in order to meet the weight requirement of sitting in the front, and we did it! Captain Richie is the Chief Pilot and is army trained. Request him.
