What To Expect

Congress Avenue Bridge Bat Watching

You will see the world's largest urban bat colony that peaks at around 2 million bats during the peak of the season. The bats take off around sunset and always head towards the eastern part of downtown.

Austin

You will see a number of buildings on the Austin Skyline including the Hotel Van Zandt, The Austonian Tower, and a multitude of residential and commercial buildings.

The kayaking was fun as was the humor of our guide while he told us countless backstories about Austin. My only minor issue is that I would have liked to have seen more bats.

I wish we could of given you more bats! We sometimes strike out when we have a lot of recent rainfall like the first half of June had. Its been dry enough for long enough now that the bats are coming out earlier and earlier.

We had a great time doing the bat bridge kayak tour! Our tour guide JT was awesome and very knowledgeable. Kayaking was fun and it was really cool to see so many bats come out!

First of all, it was difficult to find the actual launch spot as directions weren’t very clear. Our Uber driver didn’t know either. But, once there, the guides, Carlos and J.T. Couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful! It was so peaceful on the water and the kayak was easy to work. The weather was perfect. Great end to a perfect vacation!
