We heard about the Corning Museum of Glass several years ago when we watched Corning demos of glass blowing on Celebrity Cruise ships. Now that we were traveling in the Finger Lakes area, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit. The museum was more fascinating and beautiful than I had imagined. Definitely plan on spending several hours or more at the museum. The architecture of the museum fits the beauty of the glass exhibits. Each section of the museum introduces magnificent items, including the Contemporary Art + Design Gallery, the Ben W. Heineman Sr. Family Gallery of Contemporary Glass, and 35 Centuries of Glass (what a history lesson!). Chihuly, Littleton, Tiffany, Murano, Frank Lloyd Wright, Steuben glass, and more.

The glass blowing demos (vase and pumpkin), the innovation displays ( windshields, glass floors) and the different displays in the museum ( different time periods) were great and enjoyable More demos would make my experience more knowledge learning.

My family and I really loved going to this museum. The art work is amazing. A lot of interesting facts on glass and great presentations on glass making such as blowing and torching. Must make reservations well in advance for glassmaking activities. Otherwise sells out within days of the trip.
