Explore the stunning day-lit Contemporary Art + Design Wing, which houses the best of the last 25 years in glass, and a 500-seat Amphitheater Hot Shop, a space dedicated to live glass demos and design sessions. See glass created before your eyes during a live, narrated Hot Glass Demo, and be inspired to experience glassmaking for yourself during a Make Your Own Glass workshop, with projects for all ages. Choose from fused picture frames and suncatchers, sandblasted drinking glasses, flameworked beads, pulled-glass flowers, delicate blown ornaments, and seasonal projects (additional fee). Fascinating experience. Definitely watch the glass blowing demonstration in the museum. The gift shop is amazing. We also signed up for glass blowing which was better than expected - once you arrive there are more options (colors, surface finish, etc.) than are listed on the website.

We checked out the glass blowing demonstration which was cool, “fused” together a frame for an extra charge which was not exciting at all. Elmers glue and glass shards glued to a frame and everything else done after. That’s kindergarten arts and crafts and took less than 20 minutes to do. Big disappointment. There was so much space between exhibits. They were cool, but not enough to look at. The gift shop while much of it’s stuff came from China, still had more to look at.

Thanks for visiting and for taking the time to leave a review on your experiences. With collections covering the art, history, and science of glass, and daily live demonstrations, we strive to offer something for every interest area. It sounds like the hot glass demonstration was definitely the highlight of the visit for you. We do have new exhibitions yearly, hopefully one of our future exhibits will be more of interest to you. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your Make Your Own Glass experience. We offer projects for visitors of all ages and experience levels, and have videos and written descriptions of each project available on our website to view prior to booking to see what is involved in each project. We apologize if these were not easily locatable in your booking process and will pass that feedback along to our web team. Thanks again for sharing your feedback!

This was a nice break from all the winetasting. They were nice enough to let us in before the time on our ticket. Enjoyed the glass blowing demonstrations the most. Not really interested in much of the artwork. Hubby enjoyed it a little more than I did. Thought $20 was a little expensive.

Thanks so much for visiting and for leaving a review. We're sorry that you did not find our collections interesting. With collections covering the art, history, and science of glass, we try to offer something for all visitors to enjoy, but it sounds like we may have missed the mark there for you. It seems like you were more interested in the process of making glass, which you enjoyed through one of our live demonstrations. These live demonstrations are the highlight of the visit for many visitors! We hope you will give another try in the future, safe travels!
