Showcasing more than 3,500 years of glassmaking history, the Corning Museum of Glass features nearly 50,000 pieces of classic and contemporary glass art and objects. See works ranging from a small Egyptian pharaoh head to an enormous Tiffany window, and discover the wonder and artistry behind glassmaking. Explore the stunning day-lit Contemporary Art + Design Wing, which houses the best of the last 25 years in glass, and a 500-seat Amphitheater Hot Shop, a space dedicated to live glass demos and design sessions. See glass created before your eyes during a live, narrated Hot Glass Demo, and be inspired to experience glassmaking for yourself during a Make Your Own Glass workshop, with projects for all ages. Choose from fused picture frames and suncatchers, sandblasted drinking glasses, flameworked beads, pulled-glass flowers, delicate blown ornaments, and seasonal projects (additional fee). No one in the exhibit halls to talk about the exhibits. Live demos had insufficient capacity to accommodate visitors. Waited on line for 30 miniatures only to be turned away. Museum tix too expensive for what they offer.

My partner had always wanted to visit the Corning Museum of Glass. When we were planning for our weekend up in the Finger Lakes, that proved to be the perfect means of adding the museum to our itinerary. We timed our visit later in the day so that we would have enough time to get up to Corning from NYC. I bought my tickets online 2 weeks prior to our visit very easily. We were temperature scanned on entry into the museum and got our entry stickers quite easily, along with basic social distancing rules. All museum employees and other visitors complied with face masks. Going through the museum flowed in one direction, for social distancing purposes, and led us through the contemporary galleries first. There were lots of gorgeous large glasswork installations in various well lit galleries. The pathway led to the museum's history of glass galleries, which were stunning. Display cases held pristine examples of glass work from around the world throughout the ages and how each region of the world put their own imprint in developing and advancing the art of glassware. Take the time to look at each case carefully and marvel at the intricate details. The museum is a must for anyone who is interested in decorative art and history.

Thank you for visiting! We are thrilled that you were finally able to cross us off your list during your trip to the beautiful Finger Lakes region. Thank you for providing such a thorough overview of what visitors can expect during a visit to the Museum currently. We have tried to make our processes as simple as possible while ensuring visitor and staff safety every step of the way. With our changing exhibitions, there is always something new to see, so come again soon!

The museum is amazing and it’s worth the trip from New York, we were not very happy with the ticketing, because the website said the you have to buy the ticket online because of COVID and you could go only at a specific time, once we got there people were coming in and buy ticket at the moment and we waste the all morning because we wanted to respect the rules. They should be more careful and precise with info.
