While visiting my daughter she recommended we visit for some reason my thoughts were on corning-ware cooking dishes, figured I would knock out some Christmas shopping :) I was amazed as soon as I walked through the door the glass artwork looked amazing and I really did enjoy looking at the antique pieces, it is rather overwhelming experience and highly recommended. Wonderful exhibits of contemporary art amazing art all made with glass!! Pieces exploit the characteristics of glass, such as it’s transparency and reflective properties! Also there is an enormous exhibit of 3500 year history of glass!! The demonstration amphitheater is mesmerizing. You can watch people work glass furnaces and blow glass. You could easily visit this place for two days instead of one!! We did not know tickets would be valid for two days!

Admission to CMOG is valid for two days. This is for a reason. If you're doing it right, you will need those two days. We learned about CMOG through their (now sadly ended) association with Celebrity cruises and finally made it to Corning. The museum is stunning and modern, and features amazing art pieces, as well as exhibitions on the more traditional uses and history of glass. Their 3500 Years of Glass exhibit is particularly impressive in this regard...glass from the Roman Empire looks very similar to Depression Glass, apparently. Don't miss their demonstrations of various glassmaking techniques, either. They're highly informative and fun to watch. This is an absolute must if you're anywhere near Corning. If you're not near Corning, find a reason to be near Corning.

Thank you for visiting! We were very fortunate to work on Celebrity Cruise's Solstice, Equinox and Eclipse cruise ships with our mobile Hot Glass Show for 10 years. It was a great opportunity for many glassblowers and we were proud to be able to educate and amaze many guests on how spectacular glass is. We are so glad you made it to the glass Mother Ship here in Corning!
