The main exhibit is glass from 3500 years to today. historically fascinating but also the new galleries with modern glass is breathtaking. to see what they can do with colour and molten glass is spectacular. There are live demonstrations to let you into the world of glassmaking.

We were really amazed by this museum in Corning, NY. We attended with our children who took advantage of free admission. We signed up for the hands-on make your own glass project the night before. Some of the more popular projects such as glass blowing were sold out but we were able to make 2 necklace glass pendants involving flameworking which was really cool. The glass frame involved decoration which was later fused in the kiln. Not much fire involved for us after decorating the frame but great for younger ages. Your completed projects are available for pick up the next day at noon so plan accordingly. A couple of the projects are available same day. Having it shipped was also an option. We had a great tour by Martha. It was really informative and interesting. We had to leave the tour a little early to catch one of their live demonstrations in their amphitheater, which I also highly recommend. You can really appreciate the skills involved with this type of art. New glass now is a new exhibit which is really phenomenal and has a way of transporting you to a different place. I felt 1 day was not enough to really enjoy this great place. Lunch was also very tasty and lots of different and healthy options. Make sure you fit this into your upstate New York trip!

Thank you for visiting and for your comprehensive review! Now you can probably see why we allow two consecutive days with your admission to be able to experience all we have to offer. We do recommend advance reservations for our Make Your Own Glass workshops, as there is limited availability for hot workshops and the projects change seasonally. Our docents are wonderful and giver several tours a day which are included in admission. New Glass Now is on display until January 5th and it is indeed a marvel of unexpected glass creations that really showcase what glass artists are making now around the world. We look forward to your next visit and immersion in our wonderful world of glass!
