Cow Heaven: A Self-Guided Driving Tour from Point Reyes Seashore to Tomales

Overview
A 21-mile self-guided audio driving tour from Point Reyes National Seashore to the town of Tomales.

Just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, fifth-generation sheep rancher Bill Jensen guides recalcitrant lambs through a foot bath. A few miles down the road, Bob Giacomini checks out his high-tech milking barn.

Bill and Bob are part of a rich agricultural community of dairy farmers, cattle and sheep ranchers and oyster growers in West Marin County. How was this rural paradise, so close to a major metropolitan area, saved from development? A lot of the credit goes to two women who came up with a unique idea...

Really enjoyed learning a slice of history while driving through a new part of West Marin. A great outing, even during covid. I hope to discover more tours like this.

This was a really good tour! I learned a lot about the history of the area and why there are still farms there. Driving through the area was so beautiful! And the stories they told really made it come to life. I love this tour! I would highly recommend the tour and might even do it again!

In addition to the spectacular beauty of the environment, I was fascinated by the history and particularly the ability of a local collaboration to preserve such fabulous land for the rest of us to enjoy. Well done!!! I couldn't recommend this tour more highly.
