We are local San Diegans who have avoided TJ and the border since 9-11. We were mey outside the McDonalds in San Ysidro and the guide walked us across the border. We then took a small local bus to downtown. Sarah took us to a great mix including the Cultural Museum, Ave Revolution, a neat lunch stop at a locals only spot in one of the cute covered alleyways, craft beer tasting and as an extra we did some tequila tasting. She rought us back to the border crossing in the similar bus. It was a fun day exploring how Tijuana has changed in the last 10-15 years. It is ll for the better!

Loved our guide. Had a bit of trouble interpreting the museum displays & knowledge of Tijuana history. Everything else was great! Being a local he personalised the day for us.

My boyfriend and I wanted to visit Tijuana while we were on our short trip in San Diego. We took the trolley from Downtown San Diego to San Ysidro like the details in the description recommend. It was simple and easy. I was able to contact Border Tours to identify my tour guide, Sarah. She was amazing! She guided us through crossing the border safely and efficiently. As a local, she was knowledgeable about public transit in the city and all the safe short cuts and walkways to get us to our various destinations. We were able to see the general tourist attractions but everything we ate was local and authentic. The street tacos she got us were absolutely delicious. We sampled fresh homemade bread, craft beer, and looked at all the cool shops. All throughout the trip, she took pictures of us at the various destinations to send to her boss. This was for safety so someone could know our last whereabouts at all times. This reassured me and I never felt like I was in danger. We stayed in the city for long enough to eat and shop. She then led us back to the border to say our goodbyes. I can’t recommend this enough. THIS is how you do a day trip to Tijuana. All of the places we went would have been impossible to find by ourselves. Wonderful experience.
