This tour is totally customizable – you choose the length of the tour, what time you want to be picked up, and what you want to see.

I love San Francisco and have spent 20 years studying and exploring the city. I’ll work with you to plan your tour so you can see the famous sites and the hidden gems other tours can't go to or don't know about. I’ve designed this to be the type of tour I would take if I visited San Francisco, but where you go is up to you. I make suggestions along the way, but how long you spend at any site is up to you. You're never rushed, and never have to wait for other people. It's all about you!

Plus, it's fun! In the convertible MINI Cooper, you see everything up close and personal as we drive along.

What To Expect

Coit Tower

See the murals and views the bay and Golden Gate Bridge. How much time you spend is up to you.

Painted Ladies

Call it Postcard Row, the Painted Ladies, or the Full House houses, everyone loves seeing this site in person. And if you want to get out and take a picture, you can. As with all locations, if you want to get out is up to you.

Presidio of San Francisco

Drive through this former Army base turned national park. Stop and see the Yoda statue if you want.

North Beach

Learn the history and culture of this neighborhood that is a favorite of locals and visitors alike.

Lombard Street

If the time is right and there isn't too much traffic (usually weekend and holiday afternoons) we drive down the famous crooked st. If we can't drive down, we can at least drive by, and get out for photos if you want to.

Chinatown

Drive through this neighborhood, and learn about its history and culture. As I talk about the architecture, you can look up an see it as we drive through in the convertible MINI Cooper.

Haight-Ashbury

Drive down the street made famous in the 1960's, and learn why the music and culture made resonated around the world.

Golden Gate Park

Drive through the park, see the museums and the Japanese Tea garden. Guests enjoy driving through and learning the history of this urban garden created on top of 1,017 acres of sand. If open, there is an opportunity to go into the observation tower of the DeYoung museum.

Twin Peaks

Experience a spectacular view of the entire city, the Bay, and if the weather is clear, bridges as far south as Silicon Valley and up near the wine country.

16 Avenue Tiled Steps

The 16th Ave Tiled steps are only part of what you can see. I can show you a lesser known but equally as impressive tiled staircase, and what these staircases looked like before they were transformed into this urban art piece.

Mission District

See Mission Dolores, the Mission Murals, and location of what may be the best burritos in city.

We booked a tour of San Francisco with Reed in early September 2019. Reed's vehicle and personality were highlights of our trip. When we first considered taking a tour we were worried about traffic noise and being in a van or something like it with many people. But the mini-Cooper was perfect. We had the car to ourselves and it was wonderful having the top down. There is actually very little traffic in San Francisco - at least on the roads that Reed took! So traffic noise was not an issue at all. And the visibility was much better than it would have been in a van. Reed's personality was a wonderful part of the tour. He is very entertaining and knowledgeable about the city and can communicate his knowledge effectively. He knows lots of interesting stories and the history of all the parts of town we visited. He also had many interesting recommendations for places to shop, eat and visit. We also enjoyed the freedom to ask Reed to take us anyplace we wanted to go. We stopped at Coit Tower and spent much more time there than we expected looking at the murals. But Reed simply waited for us until we emerged. After than we still were able to spent meaningful time in Pacific Heights, the Presidio, the Civic Center, China Town and the Cable Car Museum - all in two hours! Our first real acquaintance with America and with San Francisco was with the tour of Reed !! We booked a tour with Reed as an "intro to San Francisco" activity on our first day in the city. It turned out to be a great idea because we used everything we learned on the tour throughout our stay in the city. Not only did we get to see all the highlights of the city we also heard much more history behind everything that made it a much more memorable experience.
