Daufuskie Island Guided History Tour from Hilton Head

Overview
Tucked between Hilton Head Island and Savannah, and accessible only by boat, Daufuskie Island is a real gem. This 4-hour Daufuskie Island trip provides a glimpse into a fascinating chapter of Lowcountry history on the undeveloped side of the island. Meet local artisans and learn the rich history of the Native Americans, European settlers, the cotton trade, and the Gullah culture. We encourage you to wear weather appropriate clothing, and bring water, snacks, and sunscreen.

Captain Pete was very knowledgeable and passionate about Daufuskie Island. His in-depth stories about the island's history and current state were very informative. As we rode about the island in the Golf Cart, it was obvious that Captain Pete knew most of the locals and they liked him. Our friends Kim and Mike as well as my wife and I highly recommend taking the Daufuskie Island History & Artisans Excursion with Captain Pete.

Capt. Pete was a capable boat handler giving us all confidence we were in good hands from the moment we launched. His affable and considerate manner was a constant throughout. We were further impressed with his knowledge of the surrounding area, its history and the people who had lived there. His stories, facts and explanations were compelling and clear. It was also apparent that his relationships with the various artisans on the island were warm and genuine. Yes, we could have visited and seen most all the same sites had we gone on our own. However, we are so glad we had Pete to give us "the rest of the story." If you are considering a visit to Daufuskie Island, you will be so glad you did so with Capt. Pete and the team at Outside.

My sister and I went on the Daufuskie tour today with Captain Pete B. This was one of the best tours we have been on. The boat ride and the Island with all its history was fantastic! I Highly recommend this tour.
