Daufuskie Island Guided History Tour from Hilton Head

Overview
Tucked between Hilton Head Island and Savannah, and accessible only by boat, Daufuskie Island is a real gem. This 4-hour Daufuskie Island trip provides a glimpse into a fascinating chapter of Lowcountry history on the undeveloped side of the island. Meet local artisans and learn the rich history of the Native Americans, European settlers, the cotton trade, and the Gullah culture. We encourage you to wear weather appropriate clothing, and bring water, snacks, and sunscreen.

Please be aware: Our tour is completely structured and does not include a stop for lunch.

Booked this through the website for Bluffton Arts and Seafood Festival and boat left from the public dock at the end of Calhoun, not sure if this was a special arrangement for the Festival but it was really convenient for us. So glad we did this, the open boat ride trough the marshes of May river was a perfect way to see the beautiful scenery and wildlife, Capt Pete was a great guide both on the water and on the island, he is so knowledgeable about the ecology and the history of the Gullah people on Daufuskie. Had thought about doing an independent tour of the island but after seeing as much as we did with Capt Pete and realizing how difficult it would be to find your way around the mostly unmarked dirt roads of the island, very glad we did the tour.

We loved our tour with Captain Pete. He was knowledgeable and funny. We learned a lot and saw beautiful sites. This is the best way to see Daufuskie.
