We booked this tour through the Montage Palmetto Bluffs and left via Wilsonā€™s Landing. The weather turned from rain that morning to a beautiful sunny afternoon. It ended up being just the two of us with Captain Gio who personalized our day with a stop at their private island to look around on the way. We also spotted a dolphin and followed it for awhile. The tour On Daufuskie Island is via a golf cart. The island is filled with beautiful wildlife. We spotted bluebirds, cardinals, eagles and alligators. We also stopped at some of the local artisans shops which were interesting. On the cruise back, Gio harvested some fresh oysters for us to sample. They were surprisingly good. It was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this tour.

What a fantastic excursion! So great that you had Captain Gio all to yourselves to show you our waterways and share some time on Page Island. The Captain loved having you and looks forward to your next trip with Outside Palmetto Bluff. Abby, PR Manager [email protected]

Boat leaves from Shelter Cove. It's a 28' covered center console skiff. Captain Pete is one of the best tour guides we've ever had. He knew the local waters and got us to Daufuskie as quickly as possible. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the island, it's people and the history of Pat Conroy and all of his books. We toured the island in well maintained heavy duty 6 passenger golf carts (Cars not allowed). We had been to Daufuskie and played golf at both Haig Point which is still in operation and Melrose and Bloody Point which has gone bankrupt several times. You will remember Dr. Buzzard (witch doctor) and Minerva from "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". The developers refused to let the relatives of former slaves with "Heir's Rights" have access to the propertyso he put a hex on the property and told the developers that the property would never show a profit. Then Dr. Buzzard died and no one can remove the hex. You can see remnants of the old Bloody Point golf course and a bunch of empty magnificent homes on the beach. Great trip.

We took the Daufuskie Island History and Artisans excursion on a chilly January afternoon but Cap'n Pete was an excellent host and guide who made us forget about the chilly weather. Cap'n Pete was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and specifically about Daufuskie Island. We really enjoyed our tour of Daufuskie and Cap'n Pete made the history of the Gullah people come alive. This tour is a must-do if you are interested in local history.
