The bus ride was fine until they ran out of toilet paper and people didnā€™t know where the Flush button was. Ewww! Carriage tour was my favorite part!! Our driver, David, was extraordinarily knowledgeable. The horse, Yemesse, was hysterical. If he didnā€™t want to go he just stopped, but David always got him on track. Fort Sumter was very interesting. We took a large boat over there and our tour was provided an ok lunch. Ham sandwich, chips, cookie, and choice of water or Pepsi. Just okay. Last we went to Boone Hall Plantation. Not at all what I expected. Built in 1939. I was expecting more of an antebellum style home. Big waste of time and money. Best part was viewing the slave quarters and learning about their lives. I would recommend this tour as long as you donā€™t have preconceived ideas about the plantation. The rest of the tour was fantastic!

Weā€™ve stayed in North Myrtle Beach many times flying into Charleston but never taken the time to see sights in Charleston. This trip was the perfect way to get from Myrtle Beach to Charleston and see many things in one day. The carriage ride through historic downtown was interesting, seeing the homes and architecture along with some history was perfect. Next was a short boat ride to Fort Sumter with a box lunch to eat on the way. Then you get time to explore the Fort where there are park rangers to give an introductory story and answer your questions. Then on to Boone Hall Plantation where you have a couple of hours to explore. You can choose what you want to see or what tours to do at the plantation. We did the tractor tour around the grounds that gave some history and current state of plantation. Then we explored the gardens and the butterfly garden. Took pictures of the main house and the amazing oak lined entry. Trip started for us at 6:45 am at Ripleyā€™s Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach since we were not staying at a hotel along Ocean Boulevard. We got back around 7 pm. So worth the price for such a full day of history, information, and sites. Our bus driver was very nice and explained everything along the way.
