What To Expect

Charleston City Market

Our Barn is located just off of the Charleston City Market. You will meet your certified tour guide here and then you will depart on your hour long horse or mule drawn carriage tour. The carriage will go through the City gate at the market where the tour guide is assigned a tour route. You will see about 30 blocks of the historic district which will include beautiful architecture, churches, buildings, gardens and more. The tour returns to the Big Red Barn.

Our driver/guide (Scott)was great, very informative and had some good jokes. He is a native of Charleston, so he knew a lot of the area.

We had a great time, the guide was very informative about the homes in Charleston and other useful information. The carriages seat 4 to a bench. We were a little afraid to lean back on the seat (we are a larger bunch), but they are iron reinforced so we were able to relax as the trip progressed. You never know which part of the downtown you will get to see, this trip was 2a, and it was great. Beautiful homes, the park between the two rivers, etc. It felt like it was more like an 1 hour and 15. We did have to wait to board because our time has three different carriages going out, but it was no big deal. The ticketing booth also has waters and snacks for sale as well as a bathroom. Well done!

Our driver Scott and his horse O’Mally gave us a very informative, humorous tour. Scott knew his history and took time to answer questions and show added details of some of the houses. Had a great time.
