My 9 yr old daughter and I took a tour with this company because it’s the one the Visitor’s Center has a relationship with. We stopped by their to get info and they offer $5 off a ticket. It was quite a hike in the heat to get down to the barn. Speaking of which, it’s not that easy to find. When we got down to the historic market, we saw a Palmetto booth. We thought that’s where we were supposed to check in. The staffer told us to go find the red barn and gave us a brochure. It was not a very good map. We walked down and couldn’t find it. We ended up asking a rep for another carriage company who was on a corner down there where it was. He was kind and directed us. Later in the day, we walked past there again and heard someone else asking where Palmetto Carriage was. The check in process was easy. Ample space with Dan’s and two bathrooms to wait in. A staffer calls out your name and you load up. It’s a very tight fit. The pack 4 to a row. Even average sized adults will be very snug. Apparently the drivers don’t know where they will go until they check in shortly after departure from the barn at a city-run shack that has a lottery type system that tells them what route to assign a driver. We expected to see Rainbow Row but we didn’t. We saw some beautiful churches and historic homes. A carriage driver (can’t recall her name but she’s a middle aged woman who has been doing these tours for years) was entertaining and informative.

Loved this tour! Recommend to everyone. It’s just an hour, which is perfect in this heat. Our guide was great. Each carriage goes in a different part of downtown so you could do it more than once and go somewhere different.
