What To Expect

Charleston City Market

Our Barn is located just off of the Charleston City Market. You will meet your certified tour guide here and then you will depart on your hour long horse or mule drawn carriage tour. The carriage will go through the City gate at the market where the tour guide is assigned a tour route. You will see about 30 blocks of the historic district which will include beautiful architecture, churches, buildings, gardens and more. The tour returns to the Big Red Barn.

This is where you will meet your tour guide and your horse or mule drawn carriage.

Our tour guide did a fantastic job, knowledgeable with current and historical information, loud enough to hear and treated the horse very well!

Our ride was at 1230, total of 5 women on 9 August 2022 total 15 people. Three were seniors (80s). Mason Rose was our tour guide and a very professional, pleasant and a knowledgeable guide. Some of the sites he suggested during the ride, we went to visit to get a deeper understanding. It was nice that the carriages are located down by market. We actually had two horses pulling us and it was a very smooth ride. If I am back in the area again, I would take another tour ride with family because there are many routes and even the guide does not know which route, they will send the carriage. I’m sure they do overlap for some of the more prominent sites.

Had a great ride through the historic part of town with guide Sara and Miss O'Malley pulling us along. Nice relaxing ride and thoroughly enjoyed hearing the history about Charleston and some of the many locations. Very good staff and the Red Barn is interesting as well. Thank you for a great ride!
