What To Expect

Charleston City Market

Our Barn is located just off of the Charleston City Market. You will meet your certified tour guide here and then you will depart on your hour long horse or mule drawn carriage tour. The carriage will go through the City gate at the market where the tour guide is assigned a tour route. You will see about 30 blocks of the historic district which will include beautiful architecture, churches, buildings, gardens and more. The tour returns to the Big Red Barn.

This is where you will meet your tour guide and your horse or mule drawn carriage.

College (Loyola University of the South, NOLA) friends of almost 50 years have been getting together every year since 1999. This year we spent a week on Sullivan's Island overlooking the Charleston harbor. One of the best highlights was taking a carriage tour of downtown Charleston from Palmetto Carriage works. The Big Red Barn! Our tour guide, Dana, was very knowledgeable and a joy to be with. All of the employees that we came into contact with at PCW were friendly and accomodating! We were treated like family!! What a professional group this was! Would recommend highly! On a scale of 1-5 we would give it a 10!

We were a party of 2 couples. We rented a private carriage ride in Charleston and were lucky enough to get Bubba as our guide and driver. He made the difference. He was kind, knowledgable and service oriented. You could tell he loves his city. By taking the Palmetto private carriage ride on our first day we were able to get a good overview and history of the city. It also laid the foundation of what sites we wanted to return to and explore on our own. It was worth the cost and we would recommend Palmetto Carriage Works to others. I hope you get Bubba!!
