What To Expect

Charleston City Market

Our Barn is located just off of the Charleston City Market. You will meet your certified tour guide here and then you will depart on your hour long horse or mule drawn carriage tour. The carriage will go through the City gate at the market where the tour guide is assigned a tour route. You will see about 30 blocks of the historic district which will include beautiful architecture, churches, buildings, gardens and more. The tour returns to the Big Red Barn.

This is where you will meet your tour guide and your horse or mule drawn carriage.

Really enjoyed this carriage tour. Driver was very knowledgeable about his City and interesting. The company obviously cares about the horses and their care. Impressed overall!

Great day for a carriage ride. Temp in low 70's with peeks of sun and even a light rain for a bit, but that was no issue as we were so enthralled with the old houses and buildings and stories. Our driver was Mark and our horse was Miss Drudge. They both did a great job. Lot of history, some humor and a great pace to see some of the sights. I found it interesting that you don't know what part of this historic city you will see until after you start the ride and you make your first stop and pick up a ball from a machine that tells you. It didn't really matter where we went though, I'm sure we would have enjoyed all of them. Here's my tip for couples though -- if you can swing it, buy the two seats next to you (at a greatly reduced price). You will appreciate the extra room to swing around and see all that is being talked about! Highly recommend this ride. Driver even took us out back to get a picture with our house.

Brought the city of Charleston to life, it’s rich history and beauty in a delightful experience I shared with my husband and adult son- we all LOVED it and found ourselves reciting the facts shared in conversation. Guide was GREAT - professional, knowledgeable- we felt safe, felt assured of the horse’s humane treatment, and he educated us with a sense of humor and obvious pride in his city! Thank you! We’ll be back to do it again! With the different routes the drivers get each time the experience is sure to new and interesting!
