It had been raining a lot before our visit and also intermittently on the day of our Aug. 7th ATV adventure. Without any prior ATV experience, we were a group of 3 (Aged 20-something to 60-something) who showed up prepared to get muddy ...all dressed in our boots and rain-gear. The 3-person SxS was as easy to drive as our guides said it would be- and we did just fine- trading the wheel at stops so that we all had a chance to pilot and bomb around in the mud. By the end, we wore far less mud than I expected- but what a blast! We were scheduled for the 3.5 Hour Explorer tour, but our guides (Tyler, Jeremy and Clay) wisely opted to shorten the trip to the 2.5 Hour route to assure the safety of all concerned when the river crossing proved unwise -due to what we later learned was an 11-year high water flow. Tyler politely explained that we would receive a card credit for the price difference between the 2 trips, which I think was a far superior deal than risking anyone's safety in a cold Alaska River! The guides, machines and whole experience was great- even for these 3 novices. Neither too tame nor too extreme- but certainly adventurous, interesting, fun and highly recommended. I kind of wish we could have done the longer trip, but nobody on our trip seemed disappointed at all.
