Don’t be a sucker like us. We did this tour July 2019 and was a waste of $$. You drive on public roads and never off road. You see more cars than wildlife. In fact all we saw was a beaver in a lake. The scenery is nice but gets boring after a while. You do not need the tour guides at all as you drive on Denali Highway so every where you go is an open public road. The guides were nice but did not maintain everybody well to keep moving along as we were always waiting on the same people taking a thousand pictures of nothing. Please don’t waste your money here. You are better off driving the free 15 mile road into Denali Park. We saw nothing on this tour but cars, dust, and mountains. This is no joke. Please save your money and spend it wiser.

We did this excursion on our first night in Denali. It was in the evening. The shuttle picks you up at the McKinley Chalet. Austin was our guide, and he was phenomenal. He gave us so much information. The jeeps all were given nicknames. Ours was papa smurf. The jeeps were new. It was alot of fun cruising the highway, and stopping for so many beautiful sights. We saw moose and caribou. On this excursion clouds were over Denali so our view was clouded, and you could not really see the mountain. We took some great pictures, and met nice people. Unless you want ot pay extra there are 4 to a jeep. Most were in groups of 4 or more. My daughter and I had no desire to drive. So we sat in the back with a couple we met on the excursion. When you go to turn around the jeeps in the back move to the front. So that was pretty cool for the ride back. We got to be in front. This excursion is a little pricey but it is a lot of fun.

First the good things. The guide Quinton and McKenzie were very nice and friendly, and the jeeps were new in the van ride was in a new vehicle as well. Equipment was top-notch. However, the Dinali highway, is not the road into the park. We traveled south of the Village about 15 miles on highway, and then went about 50 miles north east on the old Dinali highway through some Flat Valley areas. No for real adventure of any kind, just a flat paved and sometimes gravel road. Mosquitoes were pretty rough, Though there were some long mountain views, there really was not anything exciting to see. We did not see any wildlife on our trip, and even if we had, it was just too much of the he same thing, without any driving adventure whatsoever. We were picked up at our hotel at 10 minutes after six, and did not get back until after 11:30 PM. It was entirely too long for what we got to see, as well as too expensive. We could’ve rented a jeep and driven for most of the week for what the two couples did in five hours. I would recommend you find something else to do with your time and money.
