Denver Graffiti Tour

Overview
Denver Graffiti Tour is a 2-hour walking showcase of Denver's best murals and street art (and some of the best in the country). Learn the story behind the art and how the rapidly changing RiNo neighborhood has affected the art and its long-time residents. Whether visiting Denver for the first time or a Mile High native, you'll see the street art and this neighborhood in a new light.

We end at the Denver Central Market, a gourmet food hall where you can eat or drink at one of the 10 eateries.

(Oh, and we offer custom times and private tours. Inquire by email or phone.)

Guided Tour
Additional Info
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
  • Service animals allowed
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • The majority of the walking tour is paved. There are one or two sections that may go over hard-packed dirt. And we also go down an alleyway for a few blocks that sometimes has debris and/or glass. We have had many strong people in wheel chairs on the tour with no problems, but those in wheel chairs without a lot of strength may find it difficult in certain sections.
What To Expect
1
RiNo Art District
Tour-goers will be guided on foot through the RiNo Art District to see some of the best murals and street art in the country. We'll stop at anywhere from 20-30 pieces, but you'll see nearly 100. (And we love questions about all of it.) We'll also stop to discuss the neighborhood's rapid change has brought new hip businesses but also contributed to the displacement of long-time residents ... and has had an effect on the art. We'll end at Denver Central Market (about a 1/2 mile from the start) where you can grab food or drink from any of the gourmet food hall's 10 restaurants.

My wife and I were visiting from the western slope, Fruita, Colorado and decided to take the Graffiti Tour on a Sunday morning. We had an amazing experience. Our tour guide was James Carlson, one of the principals of Graffiti Tours. The tour was informative, light-hearted, well-paced and most of all, exposed us to some of the best street art and street artists in Denver, many who are world famous. If you'd like to have a unique educational and fun experience. Iā€™d highly recommend Graffiti Tour. We hope to do it again on a return trip to Denver.

How gratifying to her such kind words ... and from an artist yourself! I hope the trip to meet the new family went well. Cheers!

I had visiting family from out of town and wanted to take them to see a different and interesting part of town. The Graffiti tour was an excellent exposure to an avant garde neighborhood with incredible street art. James presented the art in a straight forward and fun manner, with an engaging and respectful approach. I particularly liked that he touched on the issues of gentrification and the struggles of the artists and the neighborhood. It was really great overall and my family loved it and raved about it for days. We are so lucky that we have this available to do in Denver!

Lynette! It's gratifying to read about your experience with our tour. We love that area and always strive to present a fun and unvarnished look at the art and how it's being affected by the rising tide in the RiNo neighborhood.

Amazing walking tour!!! James was a fantastic guide who has met and interviewed many of the street artists and knows lots of inside stories about the history, politics, gentrification, economics, and of course the graffiti and street art in this gritty, colorful part of Denver. James also told us about the hippest coffee shops, bars, and new restaurants in the area. I've lived in Denver for 19 years and this was one of the very best local tours I've taken -- and I've taken many. Worth every penny. Will take this tour again because the street art is constantly changing, and James knows many details about who is painting, why, where, and what their messages are. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes; you'll get 5,000 steps in. Plan to stay afterwards to take more photos and get lunch at City Market. Great tour! Don't hesitate -- just book it!

Livia! You are too kind. We loved having you and your out-of-town friend out there exploring the art. What a great group! Thanks for your time and insightful questions. Hope to cross paths with you again someday.
