My husband is not the hiking type of person, it was his first time and my choice since we were celebrating our 5 year anniversary. He was glad he did it! He loved the scenery, the audio was very informative and we both had a great time!

First things first… if you book this tour, be sure to then visit the Hawaii State Parks website to purchase a park ticket as well (only $6.15, which is not included in the price of the Narrated Audio Tour and must be purchased separately online). You need a QR code from Go Hawaii State Parks Reservation that will allow you to enter the park, and then you show your Tripadvisor bar code at the Visitor Center where you will receive the audio tour device after leaving your driver’s license or credit card as collateral. Now, onto the hike itself… I really enjoyed spending part of the day (only about an hour for me going up and down, not very crowded) getting some exercise with a moderate-level hike and learning about the history of Diamond Head. The device provided is the size of a large mobile phone, and there is no way to connect earbuds to it, but the volume can be adjusted, as necessary. The hike starts off on a paved concrete surface but then quickly turns into an uneven rocky surface for most of the way up, not too difficult, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes (sneakers or hiking shoes/boots), and then there are plenty of stairs towards the end. Once you traverse all of the terrain, you will be rewarded with spectacular 360 degree views. Definitely recommend!
