I was under the impression I was making a reservation for the hike on this website but had to pay for tickets once at diamond head on top of the price paid here. Did not even use this.

We booked the audio devices for the self guided tour to ensure they didn’t run out and were available when we arrived. Unfortunately, the parking lot was full and we couldn’t even get in. We asked the parking lot attendant for an idea of where else to park and all he offered was “I don’t know, lot’s full, just turn around”. Not helpful. Never did get in and lot the $10.

This was quite a nice hike and the vista from the top was amazing . Well worth the price of admission. My only advice would be to choose a dry day and bring a bottle of water . It is quite a natural wonder and there is some animal life to be seen on the trail , native birds and the ever present invasive mongoose. My only complaint would be no boom boxes or music should be allowed to spoil the beauty of these surroundings. I had the misfortune to be too close to a mother/daughter combo who decided that it was appropriate to inflict their music upon the other hikers . That type of discourtesy should not have to be tolerated . How can a person reach the age of 50ish and not realize this ?
