Thom is a wealth of knowledge about all things Monterey/CA history. We really enjoyed our historical walking tour and learned quite a bit about the early history of the geographical area of CA. As a California native, I had no idea about the importance of Monterey with respect to this great state’s history (state constitution written in city hall building that you can tour!) Thom will skillfully guide you from the early history of CA right up to statehood in 1850. Thom also covers the culture of the beautiful area of Monterey. 5 stars, highly recommended, thank you!

The tour was very educational and informative about Monterrey history related to California history (Mexican history of the city as well). He took us to many city parks and city hall building (which included where the first state constitution was signed). He also gave us many history facts about each historical house and or building that we saw. I recommend you doing this in good weather and not in cold or rain because the tour is completely outdoors due to being a walking tour. Also, dress according to the weather and have on closed toed shoes (i.e. tennis shoes). The only negative was all of the noise because of the traffic, but that comes with a walking tour so it is not the fault of the guide.

Really informative tour with our guide Thom. I notice someone said in their review there was “too much history “ in the tour but we thought the detail was fascinating. There aren’t lots of big monuments or flashy buildings to see but this is a small town with only 250 years of history and the tour captured things very well. Thom held all the families interest throughout the tour
