We found ourselves unexpectedly stranded in Philadelphia after trying to fly home from a vacation at the Jersey Shore. After the airline cancelled 2 outgoing flights we decided to "make the best of it" the next day and tour the city which I had never been to before. I contacted the Philadelphia "Hop On - Hop Off" Tours and spoke with Gina. I explained our situation of being stranded an airport hotel and wanting to see Philadelphia on a time crunch. Without hesitation Gina informed me she would send a driver to our hotel to pick us up and bring us to where the tour starts at the Bourse Building across from the Liberty Bell. She was so wonderful and a great "front door" representative for the tour company. Driver Kia arrived in a company van within 20 minutes and brought my wife and I to where the tour starts. The drive alone with Kia was worth booking the tour as she had many suggestions for us on how to plan our day in Philadelphia with the time we had. I had previously given Gina my credit card info, and it was if they were waiting for us to arrive to start the tour on the red double-deck bus. Brandon our tour guide was both insightful and entertaining as the bus drove throughout the City. What a historic and interesting city Philadelphia is. The tour makes 28 stops along the route where you can "hop off, then hop on" to resume your sightseeing. We rode the entire route (about 90 minutes from start to finish) to get the lay of the land. The second loop we stopped for lunch at the Reading Terminal Market then continued on into China Town. Even though it was a hot day (heat index 105°F) the top deck of the moving bus provided a breeze and there were tree shaded streets along the tour route. Our initial plan was to take the subway back to the airport hotel after the tour, however, Kia generously offered to drive us back. You folks at the City Sightseeing Philadelphia lived up to your city's motto of "The City of Brotherly Love." I look forward to returning to Philadelphia thanks to all of you. This company has combined its buses with the Big Bus tours and essentially doing the same route. We were told this has been true since reopening post Covid. It's a great and quick tour. There was a live guide, which is far better than a recording. Value was good and the wait between buses, 20 mins, was reasonable if you want to hop off.
