Overview

At Defiance Rafting, we expect our guides and their passengers to display perfect paddling form when rafting through the Class III–IV Shoshone Rapids. When they do, which is mostly all the time, we reward their excellence by letting them raft it again. When they don't, we punish them by making them redo it, which, oddly enough, they never seem too upset about.

I’d never been rafting and was really nervous going into it. All of the employees and guides made me feel so welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. Once we got out there, our guide talked us through everything and we had an absolute blast! I would absolutely recommend this company and this activity to anyone who wants to try it!

All 3 guides were fantastic, knowledgeable, fun empathic with our worried/nervous rafters. We rented several of the duckie boats and I so recommend this part of the experience. We learned that 2 of our guides (don't know about 3rd) are living out of their cars. While it may be understood that young people at this time of their lives "enjoy" this, I want to strongly encourage Defiance Rafting to make efforts to take better care of their valuable staff, possibly to get a deal with a local campground (would make sense if the private Glenwood Canyon Resort campground) to provide subsidized bunkhouses for the Definace staff who, no doubt, influence the resort's FULL summer weekend capacity. While the prices we paid were reasonable for what we got, I felt it was wrong for our 5 families to pay out such a large amount for the weekend of camping and rafting, only to feel the Defiance staff were not earning livable wages for the community they work in. Let me know if I have misunderstood - I would feel better if so!

I have to be honest. We did a half day with the kiddos (shoshone to outlet in Glenwood) with our parents and kiddos (9&11) Monday. Tim was great!!! We were so excited and absolutely enthralled we booked a double shoshone for ourselves and our adult sister. Wednesday the 31st we were so fortunate to have Ben and a small 5 man group. THESE GUYS KNOW THEIR STUFF!!! We had an incredible experience that was more than we could possibly imagine!! If you have any opportunity to visit Defiance, dont miss it. Best ride ever!!
