This was our favorite tour of the weekend. Our guide Dana was wonderful and the food was delicious. It’s amazing how much you can learn about history and culture through food.

Beware. We expected a culinary tour with information about food and those items related to same. What we got was a "slavery tour". Our guide (don't remember her name) spent about 80% of the tour talking about slavery and stating what she felt were facts about slavery. If slavery is going to be the topic, this should be made clear in the information about the tour. And IF the discussion is about slavery, the statistics and information used should at least be somewhat close to the accepted range of values and findings. It does not help the slavery issue to make up stuff and hope it sticks (when it is so easy to check stuff online). BTW, the food was very good at three of the stops (hence 2 stars). The last stop was a small container of carrot cake. Our guide could not come up with any reason why carrot cake on a Charleston Culinary Tour.
