We took the 2pm culinary tour. Very good session, the food was excellent as were the cocktails. Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative.

We spent a monsoon Sunday afternoon with Simon getting a taste of Charleston. Thankfully umbrellas were rounded up and loaned out before we left for the tour. Charleston has Many restaurants to choose from and getting reservations can be challenging. This tour is a great way to try places where we probably wouldn't have eaten. A married couple in our group had to drop out because 2 of the 3 restaurants highlighted seafood, and she was allergic to shellfish. Just a reminder for anyone with food allergies to get details before booking.

John was an affable, accommodating host. The office starting point was comfortable, and we enjoyed the Benny cookies and cold water. The tour was not too taxing and took into account the various interests and allergies of the group members. Some Charleston/French Quarter info was given. The two sliders, cornbread, and collard greens at the first stop were delicious. We also received personal service that was enjoyable. We would return. The second stop at a crab house was barely ok. The shrimp were over cooked and chewy, and the minuscule slices of corn on the cob were tasteless. The fingerling potatoes were well-cooked but served without even butter and were bland. We had to ask for cutlery. We were served water here. Not a repeat. Then onto 5Church, a Jamie Lynch restaurant that is an interesting venue worth a visit in itself; the plus was that the food was tasty. The tour was supposed to include four restaurants. The last stop was on the sidewalk outside a candy shop. Our guide went in snd returned with individual bags of pralines. Not a fitting way to end the tour. Never knew Charleston was famous for its pralines. Overall, the price of the tour was too high for what we got, and two of of restaurants are not deserving of being on the tour. The pace should have been a little faster and should have ended on a better sweet note.
