This 2-hour dune buggy experience includes all safety gear and instruction as well as a dunes support team to help you on your adventure if you get stuck or need assistance!

What To Expect

Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area

Rent your dune buggy in Oceano, just 5 minutes down the road from Pismo Beach, at your selected time. Get fitted with your gear and receive a safety orientation. You will then hop on our complimentary beach shuttle which will drive you a mile down the beach to the OHV staging area. Hop in the driver's seat or passenger's seat of your fully automatic, Big Paddle Tirer Dune Buggy and zoom off through the Oceano Dunes.

Driving around the Dunes was great fun and Sunbuggies seems like a pretty good company. Dune buggies seemed a bit under-powered but that could just because it was our first time so we didn't know how to handle the buggies right. It took a long time to get help when we got stuck but once we saw how to get unstuck we were able to get out ourselves. It probably takes a few times to get used to driving the dune buggies but it is a bit expensive to rent. Overall a unique and fun thing to try.

BEWARE - Check out other Rental companies before going here! BEWARE!! Reserved a week in advance for two 400cc Honda Quads - Arrived the 1 hour early for check in completed the paperwork, watched the safety video in part. all of that took more then the hour. We then took the shuttle to the Beach for the ATV & Buggy pickup where we waited another 45 min until we actually were seated and ready to go. We waited even longer for someone to give us the OK to go and when we left I noticed that our ATV had a flat rear tire. I can believe they let us go. The employees were rude and acted as if I was putting them out when I was disappointed that they did not have our 400 ATVs So, they put us in a 450cc which was too heavy for us and made the trip miserable. They offer no apologies, I want to know why I bothered to make an advance reservation? Also, after getting stuck the 1st time I called the recovery number as instructed and after waiting 17 minutes nobody ever answered, all I got was 'an agent will be with you shortly' Before renting with SUNBUGGY - check out any other options. I give this place a thumbs down! Once they have your money - they no longer need your attention!

Great service, amazing staff and fun for all! They did not require a deposit and their rates were fair. The staff was pleasant to work with and their recommendations helped us to enjoy our time.
