Zion National Park
Come along with us and explore this historic area! This tour departs from Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort and travels in an off-road vehicle to the the location of the mine. This area is located just outside of Zion National Park and offers sweeping backcountry views of the Narrows, the West Temple, and other prominent National Park landmarks. After arriving at the trailhead, a short 1/4 mile hike past antique mine equipment leads to the mouth of the mine shaft. Enter if you are brave! A short walk into the cave reveals mine cart tracks and the remnants of the historic operation. Be aware that on the way back out, the hike can be quite steep for some travelers. A knowledgeable guide will lead the way and share intriguing information along with fun stories to enjoy. Be sure to wear shoes that can get wet and muddy.

This trip isn’t worth the money at all. In fact, the vehicles they drive you in is more dangerous than at the roads or the very tiny abandon mine. The mine is a let down. It’s very tiny (one shaft goes about 20-30 feet deep, the big one maybe 100 feet in two different directions, and the third is caved in. The vehicle driven in was an old 1990s ford van and the engine was knocking so bad even the staff was afraid. They were told they couldn’t replace it till it died. Well it did…somehow they managed to crank it over after a while though. If that engine/transmission went out…there goes the power steering and breaks (these are windy and tight roads on a cliff 100-300 feet drops. Aka, y’all dead…very dangerous. Did I mention it was 95 degrees and the AC was broken as well? Two of my boys passed out in the van. They are one trip away from getting sued or having people die. Retire the damn Van people. Staff was cool, tried there best.

Lauren and Teresa where great guides. They where funny and informative. You ride outside Ponderosa to the hike. Then it is a short hike up to the mine. Inside the mine it is very fresh and muddy. Bring hiking boots. We spent about 15 mins inside the mine and took some group pictures. Great adventure!

It was a good family hike our tour guide Teresa was very friendly and we did not feel rushed. The underground mine was very interesting and it was cool in there. Our boys loved it
