Overview

Enjoy a one and a half hour South Padre Island Dolphin Watch aboard the newly renovated Murphy's Law and see Atlantic Bottle-nose Dolphins in their natural habitat. During the Eco Tour/Dolphin Watch, you will also have the opportunity to see local and migratory birds and various sea life. The guided tour will also include the southernmost U.S. Coast Guard Station, Boca Chica Beach, the current location of Space X, and the South Padre Island Jetties...entryway to the Brownsville Ship Channel where one of the largest Shrimp Fleet calls home.

Only 10 dollars per person for a combination dolphin watch and eco-tour. A net is dropped from the boat and when the net is pulled in the passengers on the boat hear a great presentation on the sea life that was caught. You can even touch the sea life. We were able to see dolphins that day, too. It was about an hour and a half long and thoroughly enjoyable. This was my favorite event on our beach trip.

We booked the 7:00 sunset dolphin tour. Captain Murphy charges 10.00 for a cruise every place else charges 20.00 or more for. At the end of our week in South Padre my wife and I both said it was the best money we spent on our trip. I was skeptical, but we saw 15-20 dolphins. 3 or 4 ran along side our boat almost touching the side for what seemed like 5 minutes. Captain Murphy narrated the cruise and it was very informative. It's romantic place to watch a sunset too. 5 stars easy!

My friends and I were in South Padre Island for a friend's wedding. We wanted to go on a dolphin tour and of all the tours available on the Island, Isla Tours came highly recommended. We went on a 1.5 hour tour of the Gulf of Mexico. At first we were trolling for underwater sea creatures, but all we were able to get were a couple of starfish and a jellyfish. We were able to hold the starfish while the first mate explained about them. We didn't hold the jellyfish as we didn't want to get stung, but we were able to pet it, so to speak. Once they were returned to the gulf, our boat sped up in the opposite direction so that we could watch for dolphins, and they did not disappoint us. The boat slowed down so that we could take pictures or record their activities for posterity. Once we sped up again, the dolphins decided to swim along our boat. Although there was a family of 140+ dolphins where we were located in the gulf, we only saw a few of them, but enough to make our experience worthwhile. An affordable, educational experience I would highly recommend if on SPI.
