What To Expect

Pure Florida
The journey begins aboard the M/V Naples Explorer at Tin City which was originally a hub for fishing, clamming, and shellfish in the 1920s.  Today it is a thriving marketplace where you’ll find over 30 unique shops and restaurants. Once the captain has sounded the horn 4 times, it’s time to leave the dock.  As you begin the leisurely cruise down the Gordon River, past Crayton Cove, and through Naples Bay, you might think to yourself this is not an eco-tour because the river is lined with yacht clubs and exclusive communities like Port Royal where million dollar mansions are the norm. Even though it may seem like a tour of the rich and famous, there is plenty of dolphin activity for your viewing pleasure and it does not take long to get to where the magic of southwest Florida’s natural beauty thrives. Once you arrive to Keewaydin Island, take in a nature walk with your Captain, fill your shelling bag with beach treasures or take a moment to dip your toes in the water!  There are many ways to enjoy your time on the island.  While cruising, you will love moving freely throughout the boat to get the best view capturing memories that will last a lifetime!  A marine restroom is available on the M/V Naples Explorer.  Guests are welcome to bring their own small coolers with drinks and snacks.  This 3-hour experience will return you back to Tin City Waterside Shops where you can enjoy shopping in one of the 30 different unique shops or eating at one of the three delicious restaurants.  You can also walk to 5th Ave South, Naples most famous street, to enjoy more shopping or eating!

The shelling tour was a blast. My wife and I were able to see everything from beautifully made and manicured 20 million dollar homes (and boats!) in the Naples area then almost immediately we’re taken I to an entirely different world, surrounded by mangroves, bald eagles and all sorts of other wildlife. The captain narrated the trip and has an abundance of ecological knowledge and a pocketful of dad jokes to keep things fun. Once we hit the beach from the bay side, a thirty second walk through the trees led to white beaches and crystal clear waters. It was amazing to see how different the two sides of the island were. We “shelled” for about an hour and saw a massive manta ray while there (apparently super rare to see in that area) so I guess we got lucky. I was so I to everything that the shell picture I took when I got home is the only picture I took. I’m glad I saw my wife’s phone out most of the time so I think we’ve got some documentation, haha. I will absolutely do this again when I come back to visit next year. Things to bring: a towel, a snack, a mini hand fan, haha

Capt Joey and his crew were great. We saw so Cary many dolphins. Tip for getting great photos. Take videos and screen shot them. The shell beach was so very very full of wonderful shells. They have a small bar on board. Credit card only. We will definitely do this tour again. It is for ALL ages
