We had originally planned to visit The Edge in March 2020. Then, the covid hit everyone. We canceled at the last minute. We revisited NYC in March 2022 and The Edge was again on our bucket list.
We decided to arrive really early, anticipating that there would still be long lines even while the city was just recovering from the pandemic. It was the smart thing to do. Even so, the line was very, very long. the good news was it was long because the Edge entrance was not open yet. Once it opened, the line really moved fast. So, don't be intimidated but arrive early if you can.
Before you make it finally to the observation deck, you will travel through some passageways that highlight interesting features about the building and deck itself.
Take the time to stop and observe/read more about the building aspects.
Once you arrive on the Edge deck, that is the ultimate viewing experience. We've been on several of the highest buildings with observation decks in NYC, but nothing like this one. It's well worth the price of admission. Even arriving early, there were quite a few people also on the deck. That makes it more challenging to find ideal spots for photos. You just have to be a little more patient and understanding. Patience is virtue up there.
Make sure you find the one floor area where you can actually stand on and look straight down to the very bottom of the building/street.
This complex and this view is really priceless and a MUST SEE if you visit the city. Again, for us it's one of three architectural structures to take in while there (other two are The Shed and The Vessel).
Make a half day or whole day there and take it all in as well as the Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards.
