The educational sail aboard Chicago's Official Flagship Windy departs at 11am Thursday thru Monday from Navy Pier. Leave the hustle and bustle behind, and enjoy a leisurely Educational Sail aboard Chicago’s Official Tall Ship.
Guests will enjoy 75 minute sail where they will learn about sailing and the history of Lake Michigan and Chicago. Ideal for youth groups, children, families and adults.. Chicago's history is forever linked to the history of sailing on Lake Michigan. From these historical maritime roots, guests will be delighted with interesting facts, unique stories, and a healthy dose of whimsy. You will have a chance to help sail Chicago's famous 148' Schooner and you will be rewarded with incredible scenery and photo opportunities of the Windy City.

Enjoy your time on the water — the third-largest of the Great Lakes, Lake Michigan is itself a natural wonder. Your guide will provide live audio commentary throughout the journey.

Our captain yelled “brace for impact” as we came within approx 5-8 feet of the breaker wall under sail at speed out of control in the harbor on the lake. Most of the people seemed to be unaware of the danger we were in. A female member of the crew dove/fell a cross the deck as well and appeared to be shaken up.

Thank you for the note. It is appreciated. Admittedly, we did lose engine power for 5 minutes, however, the vessel was always in full control. The vessel is designed to operate 100% under sail only. At no time was the ship or crew in harms way. However, your note is greatly appreciated and we have coached the Captain that even a precautionary statement, the intent was to have crew in place if the situation changed as at no time was the vessel in danger of impact, could possibly be misunderstood. We had a myriad number of 5 star reviews on Sunday's tour so we are glad everyone had a great time. Best, Owners Tall Ship Windy

What a unique, fun and beautiful way to explore Chicago!! The crew was excellent, the information was very interesting, and we even got to help hoist the sails and steer!
