The educational sail aboard Chicago's Official Flagship Windy departs at 11am Thursday thru Monday from Navy Pier. Leave the hustle and bustle behind, and enjoy a leisurely Educational Sail aboard Chicago’s Official Tall Ship.
Guests will enjoy 75 minute sail where they will learn about sailing and the history of Lake Michigan and Chicago. Ideal for youth groups, children, families and adults.. Chicago's history is forever linked to the history of sailing on Lake Michigan. From these historical maritime roots, guests will be delighted with interesting facts, unique stories, and a healthy dose of whimsy. You will have a chance to help sail Chicago's famous 148' Schooner and you will be rewarded with incredible scenery and photo opportunities of the Windy City.

Enjoy your time on the water — the third-largest of the Great Lakes, Lake Michigan is itself a natural wonder. Your guide will provide live audio commentary throughout the journey.

I purchased these tickets on Groupon and I couldn't be happier. I surprised my BFF girlfriend with this tour and plan to do it again next fall. The day was perfect with a blue sky, low humidity, a dash of clouds and perfect touch of wind. Little did I know she gets seasick BUT I told her to watch the horizon and let's see how she feels. She didn't fell queasy at all because the boat sailed sooooo smoothly with all sails up and full of the wind. The bar was open and the drink specials were great. This tour is lots of fun on the water and still very different historically from the river tour. It is a "must-do" while in Chicago. Enjoy!

What a fun, unique way to enjoy Chicago's lakefront on a real topsail schooner! After boarding, we were invited to sit back and enjoy the narrated tour or assist the crew in raising the sails. There were so many great photo ops of the Chicago skyline, the lighthouse, etc. And the skipper gladly took great phone pics of us at the wheel making sure to get both the sails and skyline in the background. Because he only uses the engine when he has to, we were treated to an authentic sailing experience along Chicago's beautiful lakefront on an amazingly warm, sunny September day.

Such an amazing experience definitely suggest to anyone wanting a fun tour with hilarious crew. Do not miss!
