Egmont Key Ferry from Ft. DeSoto in Tierra Verde, FL

Overview
If you want to spend some time on a beautiful pristine island paradise, the ferry to Egmont Key State Park from Fort De Soto is a great choice for you and your family! Get ready for a day of fun in the sun with Hubbard’s Marina. The ferry ride to the island is about 25-30 minutes and offers great chances to spot dolphins, sea turtles, and sometimes even manatees! We often spot sea birds on the ride to and from Egmont Key Island aboard the Hubbard’s Ferry, our big blue boat.

Once on the island, Egmont Key offers great shelling, swimming, and opportunities for adventures. Including Fort Dade, a fort that dates back to the Spanish American war for to explore. Egmont Key is also home to a large population of endangered native gopher tortoises!

Be sure to pack like you’re spending the day at the beach! Bring sunscreen, towels, bathing suits, protective hats, shirts. Egmont Key is a pristine island so come prepared with a cooler full of water, food and drinks.

Awesome trip from fort de Soto to egmont key! Our tour guide and captain were knowledgeable and fun! We 100 percent recommend going out to Egmont key on this ferry! The boat ride and wildlife were very enjoyable, we found tons of shells too!

We took both the Egmont Key Ferry and the Sunset Cruise (with free beer and wine!) and enjoyed both so much. Cpt Zip on the Ferry was very funny and super informative on our way there and back, giving us a very helpful history of the key and tips for exploring. We even took a little detour to find some dolphins on the way back and loved it! It was basically a ferry and a dolphin cruise in one. For the sunset cruise, we really enjoyed looking at all the nice houses on the way, and of course and they kept the drinks flowing. Had a good group of other passengers who made the ride very fun. Highly recommend both experiences.

This was such a fun trip! We went out for the shelling (which wasn't that great the day we were there but I could see that it could be other days) and to wander the island a bit. It is so beautiful and unspoiled. Some boats came in to anchor and enjoy the beach but still it was not very populated. Relaxing time spent in the sun listening to the surf and hunting for treasures. Just a great day - the boat over and back was nice - Capt. Robin and Capt. Zip were a lot of fun and they shared some fun information about the island and the area - very interesting. A great day all around!
