Wow! Even with the red tide, my goodness what an experience! We took a ferry out on the 2 pm ferry July 29th and it was amazing. Our captain was fantastic and told us a ton about the island before we got there, so helpful! The island itself was gorgeous, we have been coming to St. Pete beach for 17 years and not made it out to Egmont before, it now will be a regular stop. The water was beautiful, seeing turtles and dolphins and now hotels in the background made my day!! Our kids ranged in age from 15-9 and they all enjoyed it. We brought our lunch and lots of water. But didn’t bring chairs or an umbrella, bring those for sure! It got hot out on the beach and a couple of soccer chairs with an umbrella would have made it much better. Plan on walking around a bit and use the bathroom before you go!! None on the island! What a beautiful experience and thanks to Hubbard’s for such an enjoyable time!

My family and I spent several hours on Egmont Key. The island, where you get off the ferry was not as nice as the opposite side. When you walk across the island the beach was beautiful. The sand was nice and the water was not rough at all. Remember to bring water, beach chair and a small umbrella and lots of sunscreen. The ferry ride to the island and back was made enjoyable by Art and Tony. They allowed the kids on the ferry to take turns driving back. The only reason why I didn’t give them 5 stars was, the Red tide, the dead fish at the state park and on the one side of the island where you get off the ferry. Which is not their fault, but the smell was bad.
