Enjoy a narrated cruise along the Elkhorn Slough, a vibrant and lively wetland located on Highway 1 between Santa Cruz and Monterey in Moss Landing. Scan for otters, sea lions, birds and beyond during a cruise through these peaceful waters.

The Monterey Bay EcoTours of Elkhorn Slough was a great experience cruising the restored wetlands on a one-of-a kind electric catamaran, El Cat, designed and built especially for the owner/Captain. We saw lots of sea otters, sea lions, many types of birds and learned so much from the knowledgeable Naturalist. I love that the company is woman-owned by an experienced yachtswoman.

Being in nature on this exceptional tour of the Elkhorn Slough gives me hope for a sustainable future. The Captain and well educated tour guide are doing things the right way to protect the fragile ecosystem of the Elkhorn Slough that birds and animals use as a safe haven. We saw playful sea otters, flipping sea lions, and Harbor Seals basking in the sun. I picked up birding during the pandemic and to my delight the tour guide is a bird expert and answered all of my questions. This experience was the highlight on my first vacation in 2 years. The new catamaran was custom built for these tours and is quiet, comfortable, with great views. Dress warmly since the wind can kick up. I left the flyer for this tour with the front desk at Springhill Suites Dunes at Monterey Bay and told them to recommend this trip to visitors.

I was happy to find this newer way to experience the Elkhorn Slough on a catamaran with my son and grandkids. The ship is new, pristine, and comfortable. The tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and knew the environment well. We went out on a calm sunny day, but there was wind on the water, so be sure to pack a jacket with a hood if you have one (hats may blow off) and some sunglasses and binoculars if you have them. Highly recommend!
