First of all, I DO think going up in the Empire State Building is worth doing. It’s just one of those historic things you want to see. BUT I would NOT spend the extra money to go up to the 102nd floor. It has plexiglass around it and just not worth the extra. The 86th floor is good and more open air. I blew it in paying for skip the line because the weather wasn’t great - fog and clouds- so not a big line. But luckily fog cleared and we could see the Freedom Tower etc. please note that there aren’t many places to rest your feet, so plan to go right before it gets dark if you want to see night lights. I went at 5 and had to wait too long for Sun to go down, and my feet were killing me. Not enough benches for older or disabled people. But it was a beautiful view.

We visited Empire State Building during a recent trip to NYC by using our Go City passes which gets you admission to the 86th floor observation deck. There has been a total renovation since my last visit and it looks fantastic. Be sure to make your reservation ahead of time and have it with you upon arriving at the entrance. There were several staff members that checked our reservation time. All of the staff members were professional and courteous throughout the entire visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the 86th floor and we opted to purchase the upgrade to visit the 102nd floor. The observation deck on 102nd floor was also renovated and now has floor to ceiling windows with stunning views of the city. The staff member was so kind and took some spectacular pictures of us with the city in the background. This was definitely a highlight of our entire trip.
