My wife, two teenage daughters and I really enjoyed this tour. It began at the CREW wildlife and environmental reserve. We met our guide, Pete and walked along the wide, flat trails and observed different birds and animals. Pete also pointed out and explained information about the trees, and plants we saw along the way. It was interesting to see wild orchids. Sometimes, we only found the evidence of the presence of some animals, such as mole tunnels or trying to guess the scat. Pete had provided a wildlife checklist so we could check off what we saw. We did observe a Limpkin and heard it’s incredibly loud call. From there we drove about 15 minutes to a small marina by Lake Trafford. We had a chance to refresh our water and use the restroom. Then we had a guided tour of the animals at the marina - multiple snakes, including a 23 foot reticulated python which we learned is an invasive species in the Everglades. There were also turtles, tortoises and of course a few alligators. We were able to safely handle some of the animals with Pete’s guidance. Ok, holding a juvenile alligator is cool! Next we boarded an airboat and spent an hour exploring Lake Trafford. This was exhilarating and the best part of the tour in my opinion. Pete and Captain Fred knew just where to go to see some huge gators. We also saw a myriad of birds from tiny ducks and bitterns to large grey herons and limpkins. It was a very nice day on the water and we really enjoyed it so we made sure to tip both Captain Fred and our guide Pete. I would definitely do this again, when I have some out of state family members visit.

It has been a tough ten months for us as we adapt to serving our guests and to receive such a glowing and detailed review make me feel proud of what we have been able to accomplish and our ability to provide safe, educational and fun tours. Thank you for the great review and taking the time to post it.

I chose this Everglades tour for my family (husband and kids - 11 and 10 years old) because they seemed to have the best COVID precautions (only doing private tours, require masks, etc.) and it was the most educational (no alligator wrestling). The tour lived up to my expectations. Our tour guide, Rhett, was very knowledgeable about everything we saw in and around the Everglades. He made the car rides interesting with his stories and experiences. Since it was a private tour, he was able to accommodate our specific requests (going to the Everglades and Big Cypress visitors centers so we could get our national park passes stamped - it was a little out of the way, but he made it work!) Both boat rides, plus lunch, plus a nature hike - it was all very enjoyable and educational. Although it was a long day, it went by fast and the kids were engaged the whole time. TIP - bring snacks and water/drinks for the car ride and cash to tip the guide (they deserve it!). I would highly recommend this trip if you are staying in SW FL.

We had a great day on this tour. Our guide for the day, Rhett, picked us up right on time and provided interesting information and conversation throughout the tour. The small hike was nice and the airboat ride was really fun. We especially liked handling the snakes and the alligator. Great family tour.
