Step back in time and explore the historic Smallwoods Store Museum. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum stands frozen in time, a window to a bygone era when the store was the islands trading post and island life revolved around the activities here.

Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park

Nature Walk through a grove of ancient cypress trees out to a "gator hole" where female alligators have been nesting for decades.

Thew tour was excellent.Could not ask for a better day weather wise.Pete our guide did a real great job.We reality saw a lot of things.

The quality of this trip depends on your guide. Our guide was mixed blessing. She shared interesting ecological information in the am and then just her own train of thoughts all day long including whether or not she would make things on time, find a place to park and other worries along the way. By the end we were pretty tired of all that, but we enjoyed the structure of our day... the walk.. two boat rides. We lucked out to have such a beautiful day.

I think this could be a great trip. We had a couple of problems. We were told pick up at Auto Zone We waited in front of store the pickup was around the corner where you cannot see from the front of Auto Zone store. The Auto Zone staff had no idea where the pickup was at. Because this made us late the 3 of us had to split up sitting in rows 1, 2, and 3 in the van. Row 1 heard all of talk, row 2- 50 row 3 20 of what was being said while driving. Sound system in this new van was terrible when she turned up the volume she got serve feedback. Hearing 50 and less meant we could not know what the talk was most of the time. Out of 12 people on the trip only the 3 in the front row got their monies worth! Guide was great Randi had a lot of pictures and knowledge of the area. Even the pictures did not mean anything to those who could not hear what she had explained.
This program has the potential to be a wonderful excursion but for 2 out of 3 in our group it was not a wonderful excursion. The person who sat up front says 5 stars second row 3 out of 5 third row 2 out of 5.
