What To Expect
1
Kenai Fjords National Park
At the edge of the Kenai Peninsula lies a land where the ice age lingers. Nearly 40 glaciers flow from the Harding Icefield, Kenai Fjords’ crowning feature. Wildlife thrives in icy waters and lush forests around this vast expanse of ice. Native Alutiiq relied on these resources to nurture a life entwined with the sea.

5 STAR! This was by far the best thing we did in Alaska! Our guide Adriana picked us up from the cruise terminal (w/ luggage) as we disembarked from our final day of the cruise and stored it for us during the tour. Following necessary gear & education we were taken by van to the Kenai Fjords National Park where we proceeded to hike straight up for the next 3-4 hours with breaks for rest, water and of course photos!!! You must bring the raingear for the glacier. We had to take an additional suitcase but was worth it. Once we got the the glacier (loved the crampons!) the views were phenomenal and besides having lunch on the glacier (because we could sit with raingear) the water from it was an exciting part. Only took half the time to come back down. We are ages 60 and 52 and not the best of shape but had been working on cardio before this trip and had invested in the best gear down to great hiking boots and poles are provided. It is a strenuous hike but highly recommend if you are able and given the chance to do it with Kenai Backcountry Adventures and Adriana who clearly loves the land and its history as it was worth every sore muscle after!

Our Exit Glacier hike was the most amazing thing we’ve ever experienced! Our guide Brandon was super friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure we were all safe and comfortable during our hike. The scale and the beauty of the glacier and all its surroundings was just breathtaking. Don’t hesitate if you’re thinking about giving this a go!
