Aloha, I'm really surprised at the review thats posted before mine that stated the tour was boring. The tour was awesome! How could you say that the beekeeper Joe talked about nothing for 45 minutes?? That man is possibly the most intelligent person on this entire island in regards to bees and how to care for them. The location is incredible, tons of RICH history in the backyard of this location, they are the biggest producers of organic honey on the entire planet, and they offer at least 5 different styles of honey, some of which are found nowhere else in the world due to extracting it from endemic flowers only found in Hawaii. I learned how we have native hawaiian bees here, more than 1 type (the yellowface bee looks like a yellow fly, very unique if u spot one on a beach or garden). Lisa at the regiater is also very friendly and a joy to talk to as well. If you have even a slight interest in honey or bee's, and have a desire for learning about a hobby thats been going on for thousands of years, take this tour. Lots of honey made here in Hawaii, this place is the Mecca of it all. Mahalo nui loa to all that make this place so special, theres only so much u can do with bee's and they have maximized the possibilities

Had I known ahead of time we would’ve skipped this tour. It’s not well organized and non interactive. Could’ve accomplished the same experience just by walking in. Specifically, i give the honey a 10+ but the tour a two thumbs down. The keeper dons a hood while guests watch from behind a screen for almost 3/4 hour while he talks a lot about nothing.... opens the bee box, shows the bees, talks about how bees are not really endangered...then walks you into a room to watch a ten min video of the owners which contradicted the tour guides talk on bees being endangered, serves a muffin and tea with honeyin it- and, instead of a private tasting, took us into the regular area of the store to taste the honey where we were joined by other guests whom just happened to be in the store at the time. Our guide was very distracted, stopping the tour/ tending to the walk in folks and all their questions. There’s no discounts offered for taking the paid tour. In other words, why bother to pay for a tour. we should’ve walked in to the store. Tasted the honey, ask questions, make purchases and go.

The tour is a very informative peak into the world of beekeeping. Sampling honey started the tour and an informative film. We were also offered coffee and a yummy muffin. I ended up purchasing a lot of honey for gifts. Great way to spend 1-2 hours of your vacation.
