Experience Raptors and Falconry

Overview

A GROUP of attendees are given the opportunity for a unique experience into the life of a Raptor with an up close and personal encounter with Hawks, Falcons and Owls.

With the assistance of a licensed Falconer, you will learn the biology, conservation, field identification, traits, behaviors, natural history, and the importance of raptors.

Following a brief instruction guests will be fitted with a gauntlet and join a trained Hawk on a short walk – witness the agility and skill as she flies from perch to perch while swooping back to the Falconer’s gauntlet.

I cannot recommend this experience enough. Kathleen is so warm, lovely, and extremely knowledgeable about raptors. She has a wonderful set up with a quite elegant shaded cabana, padded seats, snacks, and a selection of drinks to enjoy while you learn about and get to observe her raptors up close. She even has a little bin full of necessities such as suntan lotion and wipes. It’s like a little oasis in the desert and it’s clear she put a great deal of thought in to the comfort of her guests. I was really impressed. And there is no way to adequately describe the great pleasure and honor of getting to hold a variety of absolutely magnificent raptors, not to mention then going on a brief walk with a clever and personable Harris hawk. It’s really magical. You can’t go wrong with this experience. Would make an unforgettable couples date or a fun family and friends outing. She was very patient and kind with my two kids (ages 8 and 10). Not good for loud or easily bored kiddos - this is very much an educational experience that requires hands to oneself and respect so as not to overly stress the birds.

Wow...what an experience, I have admired these birds from afar or on TV for so long and having the experience of a Falcon, Owl, Hawk and a baby owl on my arm and/or interacting with me was a remarkable experience The staff was so nice, and made me so comfortable, and the raptors were captivating. I would HIGHLY recommend this to ANYONE coming to Reno, it's a great experience for family, solo, or just a couple people.
