Experience Raptors and Falconry

Overview
A GROUP of attendees are given the opportunity for a unique experience into the life of a Raptor with an up close and personal encounter with Hawks, Falcons and Owls.

With the assistance of a licensed Falconer, you will learn the biology, conservation, field identification, traits, behaviors, natural history, and the importance of raptors.

Following a brief instruction guests will be fitted with a gauntlet and join a trained Hawk on a short walk – witness the agility and skill as she flies from perch to perch while swooping back to the Falconer’s gauntlet.

This was a magical adventure. Raptor Adventure takes place in the high desert of Nevada. Kathleen and her husband own this tour. She is a certified falconer and is extremely knowledgable about her raptors and the skill of falconry. There were four of us attending. We met under a comfortable shaded tent with soft chairs, couches and snacks and drinks. Kathleen brought three of her raptors to this experience. We all got to put on a gauntlet and hold the raptors (a Saker falcon, a barn owl and a Harris hawk) while Kathleen discussed the anatomy, physiology and abilities of each. Then we walked a little way into the desert and she sent the Harris hawk out onto a perch. She would give us a small piece of meat and the hawk would fly from his perch to our gauntlets. It had been a rainy spring so the desert was beautiful and in full blown. This is a not-to-be-missed amazing experience. Thanks to Kathleen for an excellent adventure!

We had an awesome time. Kathleen was so friendly and knowledgable. She was very patient answering all the questions. Her little helper/“guard”dog, was adorable. The falcon, owl and hawk that she brought out are beautiful. Well worth time while out in the area.
